Day 19

It's day 19 of my 21 days of giving thanks!

Day 19:

Today, I am thankful for our house! Buying an 80 year old place that hadn't been updated since 1930 was a pretty big gamble for our first house, but we absolutely love our little beach bungalow! We have put so much work into this house and we are really proud of the finished product. We will always have very fond memories of our time in this house and we are so thankful that we had the opportunity to give this house a much needed makeover!

Oh wait...that's just our gingerbread house we built yesterday. :)

This pic is a few months old, so the cool porch swing P built isn't shown.

Last night we decorated our house for Christmas for the first time and let me tell you, my heart was just so full. I am thrilled to celebrate the birth of our Savior with my wonderful hubby this year. The Christmas spirit has definitely filled the Durnin house!

Day 18

It's day 18 of my 21 days of giving thanks!

Day 18:

Today, I am so thankful that 29 years ago today, an extremely kind, incredibly brilliant and devilishly handsome man was born. I am also so thankful that three years ago today, he proposed to me!

Happy 29th birthday, Patrick! You have brought more happiness and love into my life than I ever thought possible. Words can't even begin to explain how thankful I am that God brought you into my life. The world is a better place simply because you are in it and I look forward to celebrating a lifetime of birthdays with you!

I love you, my husband and best friend!

I thank my God every time I remember you. - Philippians 1:3

PFT Challenge Loooooser.

You guys might remember that a few months back I challenged my cyster, Katelyn, to a PFT duel. The punishment for losing this challenge was that one of us would have to post a baby picture on our blog.

Well, she kicked my butt...bad.

Her last FEV1 was, like, 642% and mine was somewhere around -12%.

Ok, she blew a 99% and I blew a 76%.

Pttttthhhhhhh.

I'm not going to bring up the fact that I was sick during my last PFT or that Katelyn obviously slipped the PFT machine operator $20. Noooo, I would never mention that because I am not at all a sore loser. ;)

Now, without further adieu....baby Cara:

This is me just a few days after I was born, already a daddy's girl. Luckily for me, this is the only baby picture I have here at my house to scan because it just happens to be one of my favorite pictures ever. :)

Congratulations, Katelyn! Ready for another duel?

Day 12

It's day 12 of my 21 days of giving thanks!

Day 12:

Today, I am thankful for my wonderful medicine that keeps me alive! I always laugh when people say, "WOW! I could never take that much medicine!" because when you consider the alternative to taking the meds, it definitely makes you want to take them!

These are most of the pills I take daily. I also have all of my inhaled meds, which take from about an hour to 3 hours per day, depending on the month.

I keep the meds in my breadbox. :)
And on the top shelf of my fridge.

I have more upstairs in my office, but I'm too lazy to go take a pic of those. Hehe! I am just so thankful to have all of this medicine that keeps me healthy and I am very excited about all of the CF meds in the clinical trial pipeline!

Day 10

It's day 10 of my 21 days of giving thanks!

Day 10:

Today, I am thankful for that fact that Patrick is going to be home for the holidays! You guys might remember that this time last year was the hardest part of the deployment, so my heart aches for my friends whose loved ones are currently overseas. Patrick and I both love this time of year since we have P's birthday, Thanksgiving, my birthday, our 3 year anniversary and Christmas all in the next month or so and we just couldn't be happier to be celebrating everything together this year. I am so thankful for this time with my best friend!
